Church Reopening

By Rev. Karen Taylor |  June 25, 2020

Greetings MABC Family,
We pray that you are doing well.  COVID-19 has been challenging for all of us.
The time has come for us to get ready for the new normal at our church.  As we move forward in this new phase, please know that the Church Re-opening Committee is working towards our safe return to the place we call home and our Monument to Jesus.  The mission of the committee is “The need to adhere to the ‘New Normal’ of creating and maintaining ‘Space Distance’ for the safety of our people.  We are working on activities that include how our members and visitors will enter and exit out of our Church Facility.”  Our goal is to return safely.
We thank you for your patience during this time.  This transition will be new, so please understand that we are trying our best to make arrangements and adjustments to accommodate our church family.  We continue to follow the guidelines and restrictions of the CDC and DC Mayor Muriel Bowser.   We solicit your cooperation and support.  The committee and multiple subcommittees are working diligently to ensure that we all return to a very safe and pristine environment.
We are making preparations to enter Phase I for Mount Airy.  This initial phase will consist of one worship service.  We do not have a date yet, but we are prayerful that it will be soon.  We have been hosting weekly teleconferences to address the following:

  • Sanitization, Cleaning, and Custodial Duties
  • Entry and Exit strategies
  • The Pulpit and the Choir
  • Sanctuary and Chapel Seating
  • Personal Responsibility and Attire Requirements (Masks)
The committees, along with our Pastor, are continuing to brainstorm on the Re-opening plans for Mount Airy.  Our goal is to provide a healthy and safe environment where we can come together for a great worship experience.
